American Idol' Top 5 revealed singer

The Top 5 finalists for Season 23 of American Idol have been revealed following an emotionally charged Mother's Day episode. Two contestants Mattie Pruitt and Gabby Samone were eliminated after delivering heartfelt tributes to their mothers during the Disney-themed performances.

The remaining contestants are:

• Breanna Nix (Denton, Texas): A 25-year-old mother and stay-at-home mom, Breanna has captivated audiences with her powerful vocals and personal transformation journey. Her Mother's Day performance of "Like My Mother Does" resonated deeply with fans.

• Jamal Roberts (Meridian, Mississippi): A 27-year-old gym teacher, Jamal's renditions of "A Change Is Gonna Come" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" showcased his soulful voice and emotional depth.

• John Foster (Addis, Louisiana): At 18, John impressed with his performances of "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog and "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie. 

• Slater Nalley (Atlanta, Georgia): An 18-year-old country artist, Slater's renditions of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and "Born to Be Wild" highlighted his versatility and stage presence. 

• Thunderstorm Artis (Hawaii): Known for his original song "Out of the Blue," Thunderstorm's unique style and heartfelt performances have earned him a dedicated following.

During the special Mother's Day episode, each contestant performed a Disney song and a tribute to their mothers:

• Breanna Nix: "Reflection" from Mulan and "Like My Mother Does"

• Jamal Roberts: "Go the Distance" from Hercules and "A Change Is Gonna Come"

• John Foster: "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog and "Believe"

• Slater Nalley: "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right"

• Thunderstorm Artis: "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas and "Out of the Blue"

These performances, under the mentorship of Lin-Manuel Miranda, showcased the contestants' emotional depth and vocal abilities, leading to the elimination of Mattie Pruitt and Gabby Samone.
