The series will consist of three four-day matches against the England Lions, scheduled between May 26 and June 19, 2025. These matches will serve as the only preparation for the India A team before the senior team's five-match Test series against England.
The India A squad includes several promising players aiming to make a mark in the middle order, such as Sudharsan, Patidar, and Sarfaraz Khan. Sudharsan and Patidar have previously made their ODI debuts in South Africa, while Pradosh impressed with his performance for India A in the red-ball match against South Africa A.
The pace department will be led by Navdeep Saini and Akash Deep, with competition for the third seamer's spot between Vidwath Kaverappa and veteran Mumbai pacer Tushar Deshpande. Young Rajasthan left-arm bowler Manav Suthar, who showcased his skills in the previous domestic season and the emerging players tournament, will also be eager to impress the selectors.
These fixtures provide an opportunity for players to prove their worth and potentially earn a spot in the national team for the upcoming England tour.
As the BCCI finalizes the senior squad for the England series, the performances in this India A series will be closely monitored, especially given the recent retirements and the need for new leadership and talent in the Test team.
